Fishing Reports

5-24-15

The boat guys had a good day early yesterday before the wind shifted. Billy Hayes weighed in a 40.2 lb bass he caught trolling a swim shad off of Ortley Beach in 30 feet of water. There were other nice sized bass reported as well and the guys in their kayaks got into them also. It was mostly blues off the surf again yesterday as the big bass and bunker were just out of casting range. We have Fresh Clams and Fresh Bunker and all the baits needed for those heading out for fluke so stop in and pick up what you need.

There was a good bite on IBSP yesterday with mostly blues with a few bass mixed in. Area 9 in the morning was hot. The afternoon bite moved to Area 16 and South. Bunker, Poppers, swimmers and metals all did the trick depending on where you were. Bigger blues moved in before dark and into the night hitting bunker chunks and SP Minnows. Boat guys are doing very well with some nice sized bass trolling bunker spoons off of IBSP. Fresh Bunker and Fresh Clams came in yesterday. We just got a delivery of killies 5 minutes ago.

For the few who were out yesterday got into some blues again before dark on IBSP. Bunker is in the area so don't forget that bunker snag for if they come in close enough. Jetty Ghost Mulnuts, Slims and Keeled Sandeels came in yesterday with the colors we sold out of so for those of you who have been asking stop in and pick some up. More Fresh Bunker came in yesterday and we have all the baits needed for Fluke which opens today.

Just got a text from Ron from Jetty Ghost who is here fishing for a couple days. "Blues all morning and birds working" on IBSP. Get out there if you can.

Again the Blues moved in and out yesterday off the local beaches with a few bass mixed in. Pods of bunker are around so don't forget that bunker snag. Phil LaGrossa weighed in a 33 lb bass caught on bunker. There is still a good amount of blues roaming the back bay and river. Bunker chunks, swimmers and poppers before dark in the Island Heights area and the Ocean Gate side are working. Fluke season opens tomorrow and we have everything you need if your heading out. The daily bag limit is 5 fish 18 inches and over. IBSP will be the same as last year with 2 fish at 16 inches and over surf caught only and there will be a check station for you to tag your fish.

Murphy's shirts are in for those of you who have been asking so stop in and pick one up before they are gone.

Some nice sized blues were around on the local beaches yesterday. Bunker chunks, metals, swimmers (SP Minnows) and poppers were working "Depending" on where you were. Chris Smith picked up a nice one that looked to be around 10 pounds.
