Fishing Reports

5-5-16

The weather isn't helping but there are plenty of blues around off the local beaches, inlets, canal, back bay and the Toms river on both sides. Virginia Murphy picked up some blues yesterday in the Manasquan inlet using Ava jigs. Justin Murphy picked up a couple in the Pt. Pleasant canal using Ava's. Chase Davis picked them up in Cliffwood Beach. Jeffrey Bissey Jr. picked a couple up as well and Giuseppe Pensa weighed in a 14.6 pound blue he got in the bay. So the bottom line is there are fish around so get out there if you can. Don't let the forecast stop you.

Blues was the word from the few who were out on the local beaches yesterday. Pat Murphy weighed in a 11.6 pound blue he got in the Manasquan inlet on an Ava 47 and Brandon Dilonardo weighed in a 10.6 pound blue he got in the Pt. Pleasant canal on an SP Minnow. Plenty of fish around off the surf, back bay and river so get out there if you can.

The forecast yesterday scared people off but it turned out to be alright in the morning and into the afternoon. Those who made it out to the local beaches picked up some blues again on bunker and artificials.

Murphy's just got in St. Croix rods so stop in and check them out. The shop is also running a sale on all T Shirts for $8.00 until they are gone. They are nice shirts so stop in and take advantage of this offer.

Not many fisherman out yesterday but for the few who were found blues off the surf hitting bunker and artificials. A couple people did pretty well in the Ocean Gate area after dark last night with bluefish also. We have Fresh Bunker, Fresh Clams, Blood Worms, Killies and Live Eels at both shops as well as an assortment of frozen baits. Both shops also got large deliveries of metals, poppers and swimmers so stop in and check it out.

Don't forget those wire leaders.

A few keeper bass mixed in with the blues off the surf yesterday hitting bunker chunks. Blues were hitting bait and artificials off the local beaches again. The Toms River produced last night for those using bunker chunks for the blues and there were some short bass hitting bloods. Poppers and swimmers also worked well for the blues in a few spots.

We have Fresh Bunker, Fresh Clams and Blood worms at both shops so grab the rain gear and stop in and pick up what you need. The fish are hungry.
