Last day of the 2018 fluke season today. Blues was the news off the surf yesterday.

Two days left in this years fluke season and there were fluke around off of IBSP for a few customers targeting them off the surf yesterday. Small blues and some short bass hitting artificials for those moving. Mullet and bunker chunks are working for the bait and waiters in a few spots. Blowfish hitting small pieces of salted clams in between the BB and BI bouy so break out the chum logs and give them a shot. Blowfish are also around off the local docks, bulkheads and piers in the back bay. Bass and blues hitting live eels at the canal after dark the last couple of nights. Snappers still roaming the river and if you put your time in you can get a decent catch of crabs. We have fresh bunker, live eels (at the Hook House) and killies so stop in and pick up what you need on your way out.

Some short bass showed up off the surf the last couple of days with the small blues. Mullet and bunker chunks are the baits of choice while shads and Jetty Ghost Mullnuts are working for those moving. Blowfish bite in the back bay was "very" good for one of our customers two days ago in between the BB and BI bouy. The bite turned on then 1 - 2 pound blues showed up. When they left the bite turned on again. Gene Murphy had a good night with 5 - 6 pound blues at the canal hitting live eels. More eels came into the Hook House and both shops has plenty of killies.

Blues and a few bass off the local beaches yesterday. Mullet or bunker chunks is the way to go for the bait and waiters. Moving around with metals and swimmers for those throwing artificials. Weakfish again last night at dusk on the Ocean Gate side in 2 different spots that we know of. Snappers and crabs on both sides of the Toms River for those trying for them.

Good Luck to everyone participating in the NJBBA kids surf fishing tournament on IBSP today.

Not many fisherman out again but blues chasing mullet off of IBSP yesterday for a couple guys in the right spot at the right time. The canal is producing bass at night for those fishing live eels. Spike to keeper size weakfish in the Toms River especially on the Ocean Gate side. Rat-L-Traps are working off the local piers. Talked to a couple guys last night that said they were catching them non stop by the Yacht club. The limit on weakfish is 1 at 13 inches. The weather hasn't been the greatest but put your time in if you can.
