Fishing Reports

10-30-14

With the nice body of fish a little to the North of us Phil LaGrossa took the lead in our bass category with a nice 26 1/4 pounder caught on live bunker. In the blues category the largest one weighed in so far is 4.63 lbs so if your in the contest don't be afraid to bring one in. We got a large delivery of all kinds of things including more SP Minnows and Rapala X-Raps and another order of Jetty Ghosts should be in this weekend.

Same story in the river and back bay with short bass and blues on small poppers and swimmers early morning and before dark so if you want to have some fun and try something different with some lighter gear "hit the back".

A little slow on the local beaches yesterday with a few small blues here and there. There are some nice sized fish North of us where Billy Hayes picked up a nice 15 pounder with bunker off of Monmouth Counnty. This fish is in the lead in our bass contest right now which ends December 1st. If you have not signed up yet for Bass, Blues and Winter Flounder stop in either shop and due so. It's Free.

A few keepers were reported yesterday morning along with some small blues off the local beaches. There are some nice sized fish a little North of us and Bob from the shop was on a jetty snagging and dropping bunker before work and saw a 29 and a 22 pounder brought in. He also said the boat guys were doing "Very" well. The ocean was flat yesterday afternoon with not many fisherman and not much going on except for large pods of rainfish with nothing on them. At least where I was.

Plenty of action with short bass and small blues behind IBSP last night before dark. Gorgeous night to be out there with small poppers and swimmers.

We heard of a few bass early yesterday morning but nothing major with mostly shorts. Some small blues around yesterday but mostly pretty slow from the local beaches. The word was the fish to our North and the boat guys doing well later in the morning. We have "Plenty" of Fresh Clams and Fresh Bunker came in late yesterday morning. We also have live eels and plenty of frozen baits for your fishing needs. We got a delivery of Choopy Lures Needlefish and Danny's yesterday and are in stock.

Same story with the back bay and river with some short bass "early" morning and "before dark" on small poppers and swimmers.

Looks like things might be picking up with more reports of some keeper bass with a good amount of shorts thrown in. SP Minnows, Jetty Ghosts and AOK's with a teaser early morning and before dark will work and for the bait guys it's been clams the last couple days. Small blues were also around yesterday hitting metals and mullet. It's time to start breaking out the needle fish and we will be getting a new delivery of Choopy Lures this morning. More Fresh Clams came in yesterday afternoon and we should have Fresh Bunker this morning.

The back bay and Toms River is producing short bass on small poppers and swimmers early morning and before dark and the bite around the Mathis Bridge is picking up as well with shorts.
