New Jersey Salt-Water Fishing Reports
Below is our saltwater fishing report section.  We will report information on a daily and even hourly basis when warranted.  We believe in giving our customers an HONEST and accurate fishing report.  If fishing is great, we will let you know, and if it is poor we will report that also.  We DO NOT believe in embellishing a false report to get customers into the store.  This page is in black and white and so are our fishing reports!!!

JUNE 10 2008 - The striper fishery has heated up schools of bass continue to follow the bunker all you have to do is snag and drop.Trolling the best bass fishing has come off bunker spoons.Surf fishing has been good either casting swimmers or chunking bunker.Barnegat Bay the crabbing is off to a real good start now that the water heated up.Bluefish trolling in the bay is great from the 40 buoy to the bb fish ponytails and any kind of chrome spoons.

May 29 2008 - The new pictures are posted on the web site some of you guys took the pictures off the counter so i cant post your names. The fluke fishery has started Wrong Tern Charters fished the bay Sunday caught 25 fluke only 3 keepers 21-19-18 inch.Bluefish all over the bay troll between the 40 buoy and the bb, ponytails the hot lure.Striper fishing in the boats has been real good,find the schools of bunker snag and drop.Trolling for bass the bunker spoon is the KING,another good choice is the manns stretch plug.

May 28 2008 - Just arrived about 200lbs fresh bunker.New pictures will posted tom.

 

May 21 2008 - Weakfish continue to roll in the door Tom Brower 10lb 14oz,Phil LaGrossa 11lb.14oz all caught on fin-s or rubber shads.STRIPER SEASON IS HERE a few yesterday Victor DeVito 29.8lbs and 31.5lbs Jim Perkins 16lb and 18lb 2oz snagging bunker off the north jetty.Bass were caught in the boats Bay Head to I.B.S.P on snagged bunker also.

May 15 2008 - Weakfish on the move again since the blow Phil LaGrossa came in with 4 weakfish 13lb to 13.4lbs. Eppy Wachtler fished by the power plant last night and caught 3 weakfish to 4lbs and a few bluefish.Dan Turton fished the bayside of I.B.S.P and caught a 12lb 10oz weakfish.Surf fishing has come back with bass caught from Brick to I.B.S.P on fresh bunker.

 

April 30 2008 - John this is for you,a few regulars are catching weakfish up to 4lbs using sandworms off the Island Heights dock.Striper to 20 inch. in the same area caught on poppers and small swimmers.The RT.37 bridge still producing stripers after dark rubber shads and plugs.Berkley Island Park the weakfish showed 3-4 inch shads or fin-s lures the morning best time to fish.The surf has laid down enough to fish,this morning off to a slow start but bluefishing has been decent mostly on fresh bunker. 

 

 

 

February 25 2008

A few white perch being caught in the Toms River with guys using nightcrawlers.With striper season in bays and rivers opening this saturday we will be stocking BLOODWORMS starting Saturday March 1st.We currently have killies and nightcrawlers in stock.

Our hours will be  Friday 9-2, Saturday 8-2, Sunday 8-1

Nov.7 2007 11am-Ed Barkus just called he fished Lavalette this morning caught bluefish to 7lb all the fish were spitting up SANDEELS dig out your needlefish,Kevin Higgins also called and he caught bluefish on the polish eels they cast great.

November 7 2007-Weighed a few fish the past couple of days Kevin Kennedy 9lb 8oz bass Ortley Beach, Keith Sleezer 19.5lb bass Ortley Beach, Mark Chamberlain 13lb 4oz caught on a Capt Bill swimmer, Phil LaGrossa 23.5lb bass caught on a bunker head on I.B.S.P .

October 12 2007- A customer just came in to report he saw 2 keeper bass caught on poppers at  I.B.S.P. this morning. The mullet run is still going and peanut bunker are mixed in. Murphys Hook House is having there annual bass and bluefish tournament  running through Dec 15.  FED X  just delivered our NEW 60LB CERTIFIED SCALE the first bass weighed in will recieve a $20.00 gift certificate.      GOOD LUCK

 

 

 

 

 

June 11 2007  Fluke fishing getting better and better off Point Pleasant in 20-30 ft of water Patrick Murphy weighed one that went 5lb caught on the Norma K-3. Lou Senatore and Heather Moffit fished fluke off Spring Lake caught 4 keepers 2 big blues and a handfull of skates.Joe Martin weighed in a 16lb bass caught on FRESH BUNKER, I.B.S.P.

June 7 2007   Stripers  invade the surf  chasing bunker, boat and beach fisherman into them off  I.B.S.P to Ortley Beach.Bluefish mixed in with the bass, fish up to 12lbs.Fluke fisherman into a good run of fish off the inlet wall in Point Pleasant,killie and squid combo or spearing and squid.Store employee Kevin Quigley caught a nice 3lb fluke in the inlet.

May 30 -2007 Striper fishing has been real good off the bathing beach I.B.S.P bunker snagging and trolling.The Casino pier to Ortley Beach stretch has started to pick up a little better fish.Bluefish and bass in and out of the surf, FRESH bunker the bait of choice.Fluke fishing slow outside do to cold water better fishing in the inlets and the flats behind I.B.S.P.Crabbing off to a good start the RT.37 bridge up to Island Heights best bet. GOOD LUCK!

May 4-2007  Fishing for blues is HOT HOT  HOT, this morning in the lagoon behind the house there was bluefish breaking water.The RT.37 bridge has been good fishing the past 3 days, bluefish and bunkers all over.Good luck point to cedar creek trolling ponytails has been putting fish in the boat.Stripers on the beach hitting clams and FRESH BUNKER there in stock .

May 3-2007  Bluefish all day at Barnegat inlet.The fish were caught on smack-it poppers and hopkins lures,blues ranged 3-8lb.Stripers were caught from Ortley Beach to I.B.S.P one customer came in this morning he and his wife had 14 bass in 45 min.all on fresh clams. WE WILL BE OPEN TILL 9 PM FRI AND SAT. NIGHT AND OPEN 5 AM SAT. AND SUN. Good luck !

 

 

May 2 2007 - Bluefish invade Barnegat Bay 4 lb bluefish were up to Good Luck point today,lures of choice were anything made of rubber of course.Just ask angry Bill Werking.Tom Miller of Toms River came in with a 8lb weakfish caught by the power plant.The Toms River off Island Hts.is still producing  some whit perch on bloodworms between the hours of 7 and 8:30 PM.CRABS YES CRABS has started we are going to have a crabbing sale Saturday May 19th 

 

 

April 4 2007 - Trout anglers get ready all baits are in shiners,killies,fatheads,nightcrawlers,dillyworms,gardenworms,mealworms red or natural and waxworms.We will be open till 8 pm friday night.

 

April 4, 2007 - Flounder fishing has been hit or miss.  The best spots from reports we have received have been the Shark River and Mantoloking Bridge area.  They seem to be on the move and will be getting closer to the inlets in days to come.  Some weakfish and and seatrout have started to make their appearance in Oyster Creek near the Forked River power plant.

October 16 2006- Lots of fish starting to come in Tim Luyster 10lb bass on clame Ortley Beach Jason 24.5lb bass live bunker from his kayak Seaside pk,Bob McCran 32lb bass live bunker off Seaside,Travis Hahn 23lb bass live bunker off Orlley,Bob 28lb bass,Joey Laforgia,Sal Laforgia,Sam Farro,John Vallas 28.5 and 27.5 lb bass off I.B.S.P, Joseph Laforgia 28.5lb bass fishing bunker.  STORE EMPLOYEE and president of the HIGH SCHOOL EAST FISHING CLUB Kevin Quigley 39 lb bass fishing live bunker off Seaside.  GET ER DONE.

SEPTEMBER 28 2006  - Store hours this Friday 29 6am-10pm - Saturday 4am-11pm-Sunday 3am-9pm we will have FRESH clams,mulletand bunker all weekend.

Bluefish in and out of the surf, from brick to I.B.S.P being caught on metal and snagging peanut bunker which are starting to show.Mullet rigs working with of course fresh mullet.Bass fishing slow, there are fish being caught mostly on fresh clams and bunker heads.We need colder water for the fishing to jump into high gear.The boats got into the bluefish about 1.5 miles off B.Inlet.

We are sellig about 60 used DO-IT sinker and jig molds that we bought from an old tackle maker. All molds $10-12 dollers each.

June 10,2006-Bill M. just weighed in a 12.5lb bass and his brother Dave had about 8 blues this morning to 10lbs,fishing I.B.S.P. Al C. of  phili caught numerous bluefish off his boat yesterday trolling just outside Barnegat inlet to 15lbs.Birds and boats all over in front of the piers in Seaside.

June 9,2006-Bass fishing continues to be strong customer Mark C. just weighed in a 20.5 lb bass plus a mess of bluefish just outside Barnegat Inlet. Big schools of bunker all over just out B.inlet many boats into the fish.Wreck fishing good for seabass on the B.reef, squid  as the primary bait.J.C.A.A fluke tournament tomorrow we will be open at 4am.The Rascal II had a party of 4 out monday Phil Kirch and his son and wife and grandson they caught 6 keeper fluke to 18.5 inch 1 striper and 26 weakfish on fin-s.Crabbing off to a good start this week following last weeks shed.GOOD LUCK

May 25,2006-Bass fishing continues strong from the boats, the best fishing from manasquan inlet north.snagging bunker to jigging which is catching more fish.Surf fishing on and off bluefish was the best yesterday afternoon on plugs some bass were caught on bunker heads and clams.Barnegat bay was good this morning for Al Gabriel who casted plugs near the bb catching many blues in 3-5lb range.Crabbing continues to get better every day using bunker baits.

MAY 24,2006-10.57 AM A customer just came in his friend is into the bass on his boat in front of the piers. GOOD LUCK

May 24,2006-Bass fishing hot on the boats,drifting bunker or jigging,Point Pleasant north up to the hook.Bunker schools continue to push out of sandy hook and the bass are on them.weigh-ins of late are and I'M sorry there late still working on the site Joe (HOLLY WOOD)Hayward,Ty Krean,John Kravchak fished on the Barvic they had 13lb,15lb,20lb and Johns 30lb bass pictures to follow.Phil Merendino 14lb.Surf action better every day bass and blues caught on fresh bunker.Blackfish action on Barnegat north jetty real hot with many limits of fish.

May 19,2006-Fishing improving every day,bunkers starting to show up, a few bass trolled up on bunker spoons off Island Beach.Good showing of bass in B.Inlet yesterday and along the sod banks.Dolphins were spotted off the beach yesterday heading south.The New Jersey Angler tournament is Saturday we will be open early 4am,loaded with live clams and fresh bunker.DONT FORGET YOUR BUNKER HEADS. May 18,2006-Just had Mark Cure come in, he fished with his bride to be Donna Newnom they had 5 keeper bass to 19.5 lbs on live herring at Barnegat Inlet.Bluefish in and out of the inlet and on the surf,mullet working the best for bait.Had a few reports of bass being trolled off Island Beach yesterday on bunker spoons.Weighed in a bass Sunday forgot to post Steve Swedo 18.5lbs I.B.S.P. LOADED UP WITH CLAMS AND FRESH BUNKER.Winds E.South East around 10mph 5oz holding.

May 17,2006-Surf has calmed down real good,holding with 4oz weights.Winds west around 10mph,overcast skys.Hollywood Joe Hayward fishing area 12 Island Beach called says bluefish all over.Just arrived FRESH BUNKER,clams in-stock more coming around 3pm.

 

May  13,2006- Surf still turned up need 6 oz to hold.A customer Bob S. fished  Island Beach this morning saw two keeper bass and 3 blue out of one hole.Scott Maldonado weighed in a 16lb bass on clams.Still have fresh bunker left, should have more in the morning,plenty of clams and Bunker heads.Green crabs in stock.

May 12,2006-Calm winds to start the morning,ocean cranked up.Bluefish on and off the past few days some bass.Customer CLAUS has been getting a few limits of blackfish off the N.jetty.THE flats on the backside of Island Beach, have been producing blues and weakfish for the guys wading.Barnegat bay bluefish trolling on and off best action on ponytails and gator spoons.Crabbing off to a real good start Good Luck point into the Toms River. May 10, 2006 -Winds calm right now,surf sloppy should be able to hold with 6oz. Not many people fished yesterday,better to fish the high tide which is 6:15am today.I will be getting a supply of  BUNKER HEADS Friday. Good Luck

May 9, 2006 - Slow day yesterday with the tuff surf conditions,today not much better.Small craft advisory in effect for 4-7 feet winds NE looking at 2-4 tomorrow.Barnegat bay bluefishing not bad, trolling ponytails made by CORKY TACKLE or gator spoons, from cedar creek to the bb buoy.Crabbing is real good now, more keepers than throw backs.Good luck

May 8, 2006 - Mixed bag this weekend from fluke, blues to bass on clams.  It is still very fishable but winds are suppose to pick up from the east/northeast for the next couple days.  Showers but no major rain predicted so it is certainly worth a try to wet a line before the ocean gets rough.  After this blow things should start to improve dramatically with BIGGER bass and better fluke fishing as the water temperature climbs and becomes more consistant. 1:30 pm - Winds have picked up a bit but fishing should still be good!

May 7, 2006 - Winds are due to switch from northwest/north to northeast/east which generally makes for some good fishing.  Opening day of fluke season did not produce any banner results but it is early with a lot of fluctuation in water temperatures this time of year. If one wants to take the trip, the Sandy Hook area is really heating up with bigger bass and many 10 pound plus blues. 9:45am - Bass being caught on fresh clams.

May 6, 2006 - Fluke season opens TODAY!!!  Conditions for all fishing are favorable today.  Bluefish action contiues to improve in Barnegat Bay with fish to 10 pounds plus with some really nice weakfish mixed in and the Point Pleasant Canal is giving up many nice stripe bass in the teens. Wreck  fishing is producing some nice tog as well.  Bring us your catch and we will glady put it up on our new interactive photo gallery.

May 5, 2006 -
Winds have switched to west-southwest and it is going to warm up and also give us a break from the northeast winds that has been upon us for over a week!  Ocean should be fishable today and for the weekend.  Don't forget fluke season opens tomorrow so stop in a get what you need to catch some flatties.  FRESH CLAMS in stock also for what should prove to be some good bass fishing for the weekend. Some nice weakfish to be had in the bay. 8:15am - Brian Glenn just weighed in a nice 11 pound weakfish caught in Barnegat Bay from his boat.  Ocean has flattened out nicely!!!

Fishing reports have been slow in coming due to the lack of people on the beach in the past few days due to rough surf and high tides.  Anglers await the opening of fluke season which begins Saturday, May 6th.  Limit is 8 fish per person - 16-1/2 inches minimum.  We are FULLY stocked with bait, killies and all the tackle you need for fluke fishing. Frank Perkowski just weighed in a NICE 10.4 pound weakfish caught at the powerplant.  Starting this afternoon we will have LIVE EELS in stock!

May 3, 2006 -
Winds have decreased considerably and  the ocean should start to lay down and clean up.  Winds are from north to northwest depending where you are. Low tide is around 6:15am this morning and should be fishable in the right location for at least a few hours.  Fishing in Barnegnat Bay is improving every day!

May 2, 2006
- Fishing input has been lean do to the east/northeast winds that have been upon us for the past 5 days.  Conditions and fishing should improve over the next few days and winds should be switching to a westerly direction soon.  Island Beach State Park has been closed at high tide because of beach flooding conditons due to rough surf.

May 1, 2006 - BIG tide runner weakfish have showed up right on schedule!  They are being caught around the back of the inlet, sod banks and also at the mouth of the power plant.  Bass are also increasing in size and numbers.  Bluefish have also become more widespread throughout the bay.  In spite of the dry northeaster that was/is upon us, this may actually help because it hampers the commercial netters from wrapping them all up  Dominick Talerico had 5 beautiful weakfish ranging from 12 up to a whopping 15.38 pounds.
